Wilbur Award entry deadline extended to February 8
February 8 is the new entry deadline for RCC’s 2010 Wilbur Awards. The awards honor excellence by individuals in secular media – print and online journalism, book publishing, broadcasting, and motion pictures – in communicating religious issues, values and themes during 2009.
The awards will be presented April 9 in Chicago during Religion Communication Congress 2010. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. in the Chicago Marriott Downtown Miracle Mile. Wilbur winners are to take home a distinctive stained-glass plaque and a $250 check.
First given in 1949, the annual Wilbur Awards are among the oldest recognitions in religion communication. The award is named for the late Marvin C. Wilbur, a pioneer in religious public relations and longtime RCC leader.
Eric Shafer of New York City is 2010 Wilbur Awards coordinator.
