Odyssey Networks is about to launch "Call on Faith," a new smartphone application, members of RCC's New York Chapter learned May 18.

Nick Stuart, Odyssey president and chief executive, announced the news. He said Odyssey was eager to acquire content for the new service and encouraged RCC members to discuss their ideas.

The application is to feature faith-oriented inspirational video content on five dedicated channels. It is to have subchannels that various faith groups and organizations could program.

Odyssey, a service of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, is a multifaith alliance. It is dedicated to promoting tolerance, peace and social justice through the production and distribution of media. Odyssey's membership includes more than 60 faith groups and organizations.

Stuart, an award-winning independent television producer from the United Kingdom, took the Odyssey helm in January 2009. He had been chief executive of CTVC, a British nonprofit media production firm. Earlier in his career, Stuart was a reporter and presenter on Britain's ITV television network as well as on the Five channel.
