    Members of RCC's Nashville Chapter toured the Church of Scientology and Celebrity Centre May 19 with The Rev. Brian Fesler, RCC member and tour leader.

    Odyssey Networks is about to launch "Call on Faith," a new smartphone application, members of RCC's New York Chapter learned May 18. Nick Stuart, Odyssey president and chief executive, announced the news.

     

     

    Nashville group looks for sites to provide antidiscrimination training

    CommunityNashville, a human rights advocacy organization, is always looking for sites to train 20 people at a time in antidiscrimination programs, religion communicators learned April 21. Board member Kim Sharp and Programs Assistant Tasha Fletcher offered to conduct a training session for RCC's Nashville Chapter sometime in the future.

     

     

    Editor tells New York Chapter how to reach publics online

    The Huffington Post religion editor told members of RCC's New York Chapter April 20 about how to share their news more effectively online. The Rev. Paul Raushenbush offered insights into working with online publications like his and bloggers.

    New officers now leading RCC

    Debbie K. Christian was elected to a one-year term as RCC president April 8 in Chicago during Religion Communicators Congress 2010. She succeeds Douglas F. Cannon, Ph.D., APR, a longtime United Methodist Church communicator from San Antonio. He led the council for two years and continues on the Executive Committee as past president.

     

     

    Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter hears about emergency communication planning

    Tammy Hise and Randee Paraskevopolous presented "When the Press Comes Calling" and explained to members of RCC's Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter March 25 how and why their congregation developed an emergency communication plan.

    Nine members of RCC's Nashville Chapter shared a Seder meal March 17 at Gordon Jewish Community Center.

    The council is presenting the awards April 9 during Religion Communication Congress 2010 in Chicago. Bob Abernethy, longtime host of PBS' Religion & Ethics Newsweekly, will receive a special Wilbur Award for contributions to public discussion of faith topics.

     

     

    Yearbook of American & Canadian ChurchesYearbook offers latest U.S., Canadian church statistics

    RCC members can now get the latest statistical information about U.S. Christian groups in the 2010 Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches. The 78th annual edition, edited by Eileen W. Lindner, was released Feb. 12 by the National Council of Churches.
