RCC's 85th summer and the year ahead

Jim Cullumber, CMP, RCC National Treasurer

The calendar says summer begins this month – but at RCC, summer and vacation are not synonymous. While several chapters conduct a "lighter" program during the summer months, we already know that the DC chapter is hard at work planning next year's conference. The theme is "Faith-Based Communications: Connecting Locally, Reaching Globally." The event will be held April 9-11, at the Westin, Alexandria, VA. Chapter members are busy lining up speakers and tapping into the vast resources that the Capital area provides. You'll want to block out these dates on your 2015 calendar!

On Thursday, June 19, 3pm EDT, RCC is partnering with Religions for Peace, USA (RFPUSA) for another webinar Where Religions Come Together: The Challenge and Opportunities of Interfaith Peacebuilding. Jim Winkler, NCCUSA General Secretary; Aaron Stauffer, host; and Cherilyn Crowe, RCC member, convenor of the RCC DC Chapter, and Director of Communications for the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, will discuss the communication needs in peacebuilding efforts in the interfaith movement. More information on the RCC web site.

Summer also is a time when many faith-based groups hold their conferences, conventions and other gatherings, providing us as communicators with the opportunity to showcase our talents and skills.

As RCC celebrates its 85th year, and recognizing that our efforts happen year-round, your contribution of $85 in 2014 will greatly help RCC as it seeks to provide a growing number of opportunities for us to promote excellence in the communication of religious faith and values in the public arena and encourage understanding among religious and faith groups. You can make your tax-deductible gift online.
