This is always a VERY busy time for your RCC NYC office. 2015 convention planning activities increase, new memberships and renewals are flowing in, Wilbur Award promotion has begun, and entries for the DeRose-Hinkhouse Awards are being shipped.

Convention News

Shaun CaseyShaun Casey, Special Representative to the Secretary of State for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, to speak April 11th.

Mr. Casey is currently on leave of absence from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, where he is Professor of Christian Ethics and Director of the National Capital Semester for Seminarians (NCSS).

His research interests include ethics and international affairs, the public implications of religious belief, and the intersection of religion and politics. He has written on the ethics of the war in Iraq as well as the role of religion in American presidential politics,

He is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School with a Master of Divinity Degree and a Doctor of Theology in Religion and Society. Learn more on Mr. Casey's U.S. Department of State web page. 

El-Hibri FoundationBud HeckmanThe opening night reception will be held at the El-Hibri Foundation, hosted by Bud Heckman RCC Board member.

The El-Hibri Foundation envisions a world in which respect for human dignity, equality and appreciation of diversity are cultural norms, and the non-violent resolution of conflict is widely practiced.

Member News

Nelson Price (MAL, retired) is recuperating at home in Syracuse, NY area after experiencing a heart attack on way to deliver a eulogy at Ben Logan's memorial service (Ben was another valued RCC member).

Andrew (Andy) Rawls (MAL and Louisiville) writes: "I've just finished editing 4 hours of video teaching material for St. Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana. It is interesting material on Benedictine spirituality."

Gomer Lesch (Nashville, retired) writes: "I'm doing well – have simply moved into a senior living community in an independent villa. I'm 92 this month, in reasonably good health, but miss my interaction with all the RCC folks!"

Chapter News

Washington, DC Chapter met in September with speaker Beth Becker, who discussed how to improve and leverage your multimedia and digital communications. Next meeting is Nov. 12th.

New York Chapter met in early November with speaker Kevin Ryan, who offered some helpful tips on using LinkedIn.
