Convention Registration is Open!

Registration is OPEN for our April 9-11, 2015 convention at The Westin, Alexandria, Virginia.

Jonathan AikenJonathan Aiken to lead two workshops: Media Training and Effective Media Placement

A veteran of 40 years in the news and video fields, Jonathan is currently head of ActualityMedia, which specializes in media training, video production and support to non-profit organizations, government agencies and the private sector. Prior to launching ActualityMedia, Aiken spent 9 years with the American National Red Cross, working from its National headquarters in Washington, District of Columbia, where he developed an intensive media training program that has been used for the past 8 years on more than 1,500 staff, volunteers, and management.

Before joining Red Cross in 2005, Jonathan spent 11 years at CNN in both Washington and Atlanta, beginning as a freelance writer and ending his career in 2005 as a Correspondent with CNN Headline News (now HLN) and CNN International, where he anchored global broadcasts.

 

DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards

DeRose-Hinkhouse Award trophyThe annual DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards are given to active members of RCC who demonstrate excellence in religious communication and public relations.

The awards are named in honor of the late Victor DeRose and the late Paul M. Hinkhouse, leading lithographers in New York City, and long-time friends of the RCC.

The deadline is 4p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Each entry will be judged on overall quality, including concept, writing, design, creativity, style, appropriateness of material for intended audience, creative use of resources, and effectiveness in achieving its purpose. Faculty members from the Journalism and Mass Communications Department at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, will be judging the entries.

Richard (Dick) DuerksenRichard Duerksen (MAL), retired RCC member with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, is featured on the CBS Religion & Culture series to begin broadcasting December 14, 2014 – “World Religions: Sikhs, Seventh-day Adventists & Mennonites” – an interfaith special.
