Religion Communicators Council

An Interfaith Association of Religion Communicators since 1929

December 2, 2014

Dear Friend of the Religion Communicators Council:

News headlines these days are filled with stories that at their core refer to religion-based conflict. But how often is the religion angle covered in a way that appreciates the nuances of our dizzying diversity of faith traditions?

It's rare, I'm afraid.

That's why the Religion Communicators Council plays such a vital role in the public discourse. For 85 years, the RCC has helped tell the story at the intersection of faith and the public arena, all the while encouraging understanding and respect among faith groups.

Won't you join me and others who care about understanding and respect for faith in supporting the RCC today with a gift over and above the cost of your membership?

Your gift will make it possible for RCC to promote religious literacy in the news media and among people of faith. After all, religion is part of everything. RCC helps you talk about it.

Your contribution supports the RCC's annual Wilbur Awards, which help encourage and recognize the work of individuals in the secular media as they communicate about religion issues, values and themes with professionalism, fairness and honesty.

Your donation will support the RCC's annual convention, where writers, editors, producers and designers in radio, print, broadcasting, web-casting and television gather to hone their craft with each other and with plenary and workshop leaders. This year's conference theme – Faith-based Communications: Connecting Locally, Reaching Globally – emphasizes the importance of religious literacy.

Your gift also helps RCC provide access to resources available online that promote religious literacy, including respect our varied expressions of faith and the role that religion plays in our world. Visit our web site,, and check out the resources available to you.

Your membership, involvement and financial investment in RCC are more important now than ever before. Gifts of any amount help continue RCC's legacy of education about and celebration for our religious diversity.

Help ensure that religion issues are covered accurately in the media. Please join me in supporting the RCC today.

Yours truly,
Jay Rollins, RCC President

P.S. Please mark your calendar for the RCC's 2015 Convention, April 9-11, in Washington, D.C., focusing on Faith-Based Communications: Connecting Locally, Reaching Globally.
