Frederick H. Gonnerman – pastor, church communication specialist, writer, photographer, passed away at the age of 86 recently. Noted in his obituary: Fred received numerous awards from the Religion Communicators Council (RCC, where he was named a Life member) including a DeRose-Hinkhouse Best of Class award for writing in 2003. He served RCC and other communications organizations in a variety of capacities – all in his pursuit of improving church communications at the national and local levels.

Dr. Larry Hygh, Jr. (Member-at-Large) began a new role as lecturer at California State University San Bernardino in the communications studies department with an emphasis in public relations. His most recent position was as Senior Communications Manager for the Black AIDS Institute in Los Angeles.

Dr. Ken Bedell (Member-at-Large) recently had an essay he co-authored with his father, Berkley Bedell, in the late 1980’s published in a book by Michael LeMay, “Immigration Reform: A Reference Handbook.” The essay was about the Congressional process that resulted in the Immigration Reform Law of 1987. Ken’s father is now 98 and has ideas about the process that may help fix our current immigration laws. A summary of the essay is available on the Civil Rights Dream website.
