Lloyd T. Householder

Lloyd Householder took early retirement from LifeWay Christian Resources in 1992, after having been employed there for 32 years. When he retired, Householder was assistant vice president and director of the office of communications.

Householder was a member of the Religious Public Relations Council (now RCC), the Baptist Public Relations Association (now Baptist Communicators Council), both of which he served as national president. He also was a member of the Public Relations Society of America, American Personnel and Guidance Association, and the Baptist World Alliance.

In addition, Household served as bureau chief of the Nashville office of Baptist Press.

Householder was married to his wife, Rose Marie since 1955. They lived in Franklin, Tenn., a Nashville suburb. They have two adult children, Thom and Ashley.

Of RCC, Householder said he benefited tremendously from the relationships he developed with other religion communications from across the country and the world.

“I will always be grateful for the way RCC kept me connected with professional colleagues,” he said. “We reached out across agency and denominational lines to inform and help one another. Those relationships with national and international colleagues taught me much. A good example of this was when I served a coordinator of RCC ’90 and had the opportunity to work with multiple communicators here and oversees. The service plaque presented to me after retirement is one of my proudest possessions. I’ll always be grateful for RCC.”

Lloyd Householder passed away on January 30, 2012.
