Nanette Geeo receives the Norvell Slater Lifetime Communicator Award for a career effectively communicating faith values in the Dallas-Fort Worth area market.

1934-2015

Nanette Geeo was a founding member of the current Dallas-Fort Worth RCC Chapter in 1967. She attended every national RCC convention from 1971 until her retirement in 1999. She served the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter (formerly known as the Dallas Chapter), as an officer and distinguished herself on the national level. She has been recognized by RCC's Board of Governors and honored with Life Membership in the organization.

Among her activities in support of RCC, she served as chair for the local chapter's Stewart Doss / Helen Jane Wamboldt Memorial Scholarship Committee and as a committee member numerous times. She was part of the original group to propose and establish the Norvell Slater Communications Awards and has served as chair of the awards committee and as a committee member several times since its beginning in 1995. In 2005 she was awarded the Norvell Slater Lifetime Communicator Award for a career effectively communicating faith values in the Dallas-Fort Worth area market.

She offered assistance with the planning and hospitality for the national RCC conventions in 1988, 1996, and assisted in a similar capacity for the 2006 convention.

Nanette served the Highland Park Presbyterian Church for 36 years, editing their newsletter and fulfilling other communication responsibilities. Their publication, Highland Park Presbyterian Weekly, was an awardee in the DeRose-Hinkhouse Awards competition four times. She remains involved with the church as a volunteer and maintains a keen interest in the fields of communication, public relations and journalism.
